Líam Eccles - William Eccles

Eccles Family Crest
The Eccles family settled in Ireland in the time of Charles II and acquired
large estates in Tyrone and Fermanagh; but a branch also settled in Roscommon.
There is no doubt that the subject of this air is the William Eccles who
provided the sack in which MacCabe was tied up by Carolan, and whose funeral
Charles O'Conor attended in Dungar on the 11th October, 1728. There was a
James Eccles of Mulloghteige, County Roscommon, who made his will on the 9th
September, 1745. He may have been a son of William Eccles.
