A word about the phonetics I use:

My phonetics are aimed at absolute beginners. The main obstacle beginners face is pronunciation. I have found that most books do not cover pronunciation in a way that I as a beginner could grasp. These are the phonetics that help me get started.

When parentheses are used in a word, this means that the Irish rhymes with the part of the word not in parentheses. Pronounce just that part.

    For example Arán means bread.

The phonetics are "are plus awn(ing)" so arán is pronounced are awn or arawn.
